Hey party people! We hope your holiday hosting is going wonderfully! We’ve been busy prepping festive holiday events, unwrapping new holiday goodies, and decorating our store for the holidays, but mostly, we’re excited to share a new craft tutorial with you!
The only thing we love more than coming up with fresh new DIY ideas is when they’re featured in one of our favorite blogs, Tidewater and Tulle! We had so much fun styling this gorgeous shoot, and with rentals by our sister company Mad Hatter Vintage, photos by Dani White Photography, and delicious eats from Chef by Design, we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful result.
One of the details we loved most in the shoot was our hand crafted velvet chargers. Layering colors and textures really adds depth to your table, and one of the easiest ways to do this is with chargers. This week, we’re showing you how to create these easy yet luxe chargers.
YOU WILL NEED
- 16″ x 16″ Squares Velvet or Fabric (your choice, one yard will make 4 chargers)
- Box Cutter
- Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive
- Hexagon Template (download ours here: Hexagon Template)
Tape your hexagon template to your cardboard and cut it out with the box cutter.
Cover your fabric with the remaining cardboard to make sure the spray adhesive only coats the middle of the fabric. Then, attach the cutout cardboard hexagon to the sprayed portion of fabric, and press down to adhere (we rolled our spray can over the cardboard to really stick it down and get rid of any wrinkles!)
Trim the excess velvet from the edges of the cardboard, leaving a half inch overhang.
Cut a small v-shape from each corner of the hexagon by lining the scissors up with the direction of the edge of the cardboard and cutting each direction. This will give you 6 tabs of fabric.
Cover the center of your cardboard hexagon and use the spray adhesive to coat the velvet tabs one at a time. Fold them over onto the cardboard after they are sprayed, and press them down to adhere. Voila!
We’d love to see how you style your chargers! Show us what you made, tag us @jollityco and use hashtag #partywithjollity
